This policy sets out how La Lista behaves towards the couples who use our directory and the vendors and venues who appear in it. Couples planning a wedding in Italy from abroad are making large decisions at a distance, often in a second language, and they rely on us to point them to people they can trust.
It applies to everyone who works for or on behalf of La Lista, including employees, freelancers, contributors and photographers. It covers the directory, the magazine, our social channels, our newsletters and any events we run. Sections 7 and 8 also set out the standards we ask listed vendors and venues to meet.
OUR PRINCIPLES
We describe vendors, venues and ourselves accurately, and disclose when something has been paid for.
Our recommendations are our own judgement. Payment does not buy a place in the directory or a favourable word.
We treat couples and vendors consistently, and we apply the same standards to every listing.
We welcome every couple, and we expect the vendors we list to do the same.
We look after what is shared with us, and we respect the places and communities where weddings happen.
HOW VENDORS & VENUES ARE SELECTED
A listing on La Lista is an endorsement, so every vendor and venue is assessed before it appears. A fee alone never secures a place.
Before listing, we check:
- Quality of real wedding work.
- Experience in Italy.
- Legitimacy & legality.
- Fit to La Lista’s audience.
We decline applications that do not meet these standards, and we tell applicants so. We review listings annually and remove those that no longer qualify.
Members of the La Lista team do not assess a business they own, work for or have a close personal connection to. Any such interest is declared and the decision is made by someone else.
TRANSPARENCY ABOUT MONEY
Couples are entitled to know how La Lista earns its income and whether money has influenced what they see.
- Membership fees. Vendors and venues pay an annual membership fee to be listed once they have passed our selection process. Couples use the directory free of charge.
- La Lista does not take commission or referral fees on bookings made through the directory.
- Featured placement. Where a vendor has paid for a more prominent position, the placement is labelled.
- Sponsored content. Paid articles, newsletter features and social posts are marked as sponsored or as an advertisement, in line with UK ASA, US FTC and Italian AGCM rules.
- Gifts and hospitality. Our team may accept venue visits, tastings and stays in order to assess a business. These never guarantee a listing or coverage, and we disclose them when we publish about that business. Gifts are declared internally.
La Lista expects every vendor and venue to be transparent about money.
HONEST MARKETING
Everything we publish should be something a couple can rely on when they book.
- Accurate descriptions. Listing copy reflects what a vendor or venue offers. We do not overstate capacity, exclusivity, availability or experience.
- Where prices or starting prices are shown, they are supplied by the vendor, dated, and state whether VAT is included.
- Reviews and testimonials. We publish only genuine feedback from real clients. We do not write, buy, edit to change the meaning of, or selectively suppress reviews.
- Photographs show the vendor’s or venue’s own work and are used with the permission of the photographer and, where they can be identified, the couple. Photographers are credited.
- Styled shoots. Editorial and styled shoots are labelled as such and are not presented as real weddings.
- When we get something wrong, we correct it promptly and, where the error was material, say that we have done so.
OUR COMMITMENT TO COUPLES
Couples can use La Lista without pressure and without their details being passed around.
- We send an enquiry only to the vendors or venues the couple has chosen to contact.
- We do not sell couples’ contact details, and we do not share them with vendors who have not been contacted.
- We do not use false urgency, invented scarcity or other pressure tactics.
- We are clear about our role. La Lista introduces couples to vendors. The contract for any service is between the couple and the vendor, and La Lista is not a party to it.
- We encourage every couple to get a written contract, check cancellation terms and take out wedding insurance.
- If a couple reports a serious problem with a listed vendor, we look into it under section 12.
WHAT WE OFFER AND WHAT WE EXPECT FROM VENDORS & VENUES
The relationship runs both ways: we commit to treating vendors fairly, and listed vendors commit to a code of conduct.
What vendors can expect from us
- Clear membership terms and pricing, with no hidden charges and reasonable notice of any change.
- The same selection criteria and the same treatment for every business, whatever its size.
- Respect for their intellectual property. We use images and text only as agreed.
- Commercial information kept confidential.
- A fair hearing before any listing is suspended or removed.
What we expect from listed vendors and venues
- Accurate information in their listing, kept up to date.
- Transparent pricing and a written contract for every couple.
- Disclosure to couples of any commission or kickback received for recommending another supplier.
- Compliance with Italian law, including tax, licensing, health and safety, and insurance.
- Lawful and fair treatment of staff and subcontractors, with no undeclared labour.
- Timely, professional communication, and delivery of what was agreed.
- Handling of couples’ personal data in line with GDPR.
- Respect for other professionals, including proper credit for their work.
- Compliance with the inclusion standard in section 8.
INCLUSION & NON-DISCRIMINATION
La Lista is for every couple. We do not discriminate on the grounds of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion or belief, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability or family circumstances, and we do not list vendors or venues who do.
- Every listed vendor and venue confirms that they welcome all couples, including same-sex couples.
- Where a venue cannot host a particular ceremony for legal or religious reasons outside its control, such as a Catholic church ceremony, the listing says so plainly.
- We aim for our imagery and editorial to reflect the range of couples who marry in Italy.
- We include accessibility information on venue listings where the venue has supplied it, and we work to make our website accessible.
- A substantiated report of discrimination by a listed vendor leads to removal from the directory.
DATA, PROTECTION & PRIVACY
We collect only the personal information we need, and we handle it in line with UK GDPR, EU GDPR and applicable US state privacy laws.
- We tell people what we collect and why in our Privacy Policy.
- Marketing emails are sent only with consent, and every email carries an unsubscribe link.
- Couples and vendors can ask to see, correct or delete their data at any time.
- Published real weddings feature couples and guests only with the couple’s consent. We take particular care with images of children.
- We keep data secure, limit access to those who need it, and delete it when it is no longer required.
SUSTAINABILITY & RESPECT FOR PLACE
Destination weddings bring income to Italian communities and also place demands on them, and we want La Lista to encourage the first without ignoring the second.
- We favour vendors who are based in, or have long-standing ties to, the region where they work.
- We encourage local and seasonal sourcing for food, wine and flowers.
- We expect venues and vendors to respect noise, fireworks, drone and heritage-site rules, and the neighbours who live nearby.
- We do not make environmental claims about ourselves or our vendors that we cannot support with evidence.
- We highlight sustainability credentials where defined and proven.
USE OF AI
We use AI tools to help draft and edit listing copy and editorial, and a member of the La Lista team reviews everything before it is published.
- Facts in a listing come from the vendor or from our own knowledge of them, never from an AI tool’s assumptions.
- We will never publish AI-generated images as photographs of a real venue, vendor’s work or wedding.
- We do not use AI to generate reviews or testimonials.
- We do not enter couples’ personal data into AI tools beyond what is needed to provide our service.
RAISING A CONCERN
Anyone can raise a concern about La Lista or a listed vendor by emailing hello@lalista.com.
- We acknowledge the concern within 3 working days.
- We ask the vendor or team member concerned for their account.
- We reply with our findings within 14 days, or explain why we need longer.
Depending on what we find, we may ask a vendor to put something right, suspend the listing while the matter is resolved, or remove it. We remove a listing without a refund of membership fees where a vendor has acted dishonestly, discriminated against a couple, or seriously breached this policy.
La Lista cannot resolve contractual disputes between a couple and a vendor, award compensation or give legal advice. We will always tell a couple where our role ends.
Nobody is penalised for raising a concern in good faith.
La Lista aims to credit every photographer and videographer whose work we can identify, and will credit or remove any photo on request.
OUR APPROACH
La Lista (Wiskow & White Ltd) exists to celebrate the people who make Italian weddings beautiful, and photographers are at the heart of that. We respect the copyright in every image on lalista.com, our social channels and our newsletters.
We aim to use a photo only with the permission of someone entitled to give it, and to credit the photographer wherever we know who they are.
WHERE OUR PHOTOS COME FROM
The photos we publish are:
- supplied by the venues and vendors we list, for their listings and features;
- supplied directly by photographers, planners and couples;
- publicly published on instagram, Pinterest and other channels; or
- taken or commissioned by La Lista; or
- licensed from image libraries.
CREDITS
We credit the photographer / videographer by name wherever we know it.
Sometimes a photo reaches us without the photographer’s details and we are unable to trace them. A photo shown without a credit is never a claim that the image is ours.
If you are the photographer or videographer of an uncredited photo, please tell us. We will add your credit promptly.
IF YOU SUPPLY PHOTOS TO US
By supplying photos to La Lista, you confirm that:
- you own the copyright, or have the photographer’s permission for La Lista to use the photos on our website, social channels, newsletters and marketing;
- any recognisable people in the photos have agreed to them being published;
- you have given us the photographer’s name so that we can credit them;
- you grant La Lista a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish, crop and resize the photos for those purposes until you ask us to remove them; and
- you are responsible for any claim that arises because one of these confirmations is untrue, and will cover La Lista’s reasonable costs in dealing with it.
REQUEST A CREDIT, CORRECTION OR REMOVAL
If you believe a photo of yours appears on La Lista without the right credit or without your permission, email hello@lalista.com with:
- a link to the page or post where the photo appears;
- your name and how you are connected to the photo (photographer, rights holder, or a person pictured); and
- what you would like us to do: add a credit, correct a credit, or remove the photo.
We will act promptly once we hear from you. If you would rather the photo was not used, we will remove it. We may ask for something to confirm the photo is yours.
LIABILITY
We publish photos supplied by others in good faith, relying on the confirmations given by the person or business who supplied them. Responsibility for those confirmations rests with the supplier.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, La Lista is not liable for any loss arising from a photo supplied by a third party where we relied on those confirmations and acted promptly once a concern was raised with us.
Nothing in this policy limits any right or liability that cannot be limited by law.
USING PHOTOS FROM LA LISTA
Photos on La Lista remain the copyright of their photographers or owners. Please do not copy, republish or reuse them without the owner’s permission. For press or partnership requests, contact hello@lalista.com.

This protocol explains how we handle complaints. There are two main types:
Part A: Complaints about vendors or venues (typically from couples)
Part B: Complaints about posts in our communities (typically from venues or vendors)
Skip to the section that applies to you.
PART A: COMPLAINTS ABOUT VENDORS AND VENUES
This section applies if you’re a couple (or other community member) who has had a problem with a vendor or venue and wants La Lista to look into it.
Try to resolve it directly first.
Before making a formal complaint, we’d encourage you to contact the other party directly. Many issues come down to miscommunication and can be sorted out with a conversation.
If you’re not sure how to approach this, you’re welcome to email us at hello@lalista.com for advice – we’re happy to help you think through what to say.
If you’ve already tried to resolve things directly and got nowhere, or if the issue is serious enough that direct contact doesn’t feel appropriate, read on.
How to make a complaint to us
Email hello@lalista.com with ‘Complaint’ in the subject line. Please include:
– Your name and contact details
– The vendor or venue name
– When the issue happened
– What went wrong
– Any evidence you have
EVIDENCE
We need something to work with. Useful evidence includes contracts, payment receipts, emails, messages, photos, or screenshots with timestamps. It includes direct evidence, not hearsay from other people or posts in other forums.
You’ve got 7 days from when we acknowledge your complaint to send us your evidence. If nothing comes through, we’ll close the complaint.
SHARING NEGATIVE FEEDBACK IN OUR COMMUNITIES
If you want to share a negative experience in our Facebook group or The Community, that’s fine – honest feedback is valuable for other couples. But please read this section first. Reviews can have real consequences for businesses, and for you if you get it wrong.
The full rules are in our Community Guidelines, but here are the key points:
Stick to facts you can back up. “The flowers arrived two hours later than the production schedule” is a fact. “They’re the worst florist in Italy” is not. If you make factual claims, be prepared to provide evidence if asked.
Be fair and balanced. If there were positives as well as negatives, include both.
Don’t exaggerate. Describe what actually happened, no matter how strongly you feel.
Focus on the service, not the person. Avoid personal attacks or offensive language about individuals.
Think twice if there’s an ongoing dispute. If you’re in the middle of a complaint, legal dispute, or chargeback, consider waiting until it’s resolved. Posting publicly during a dispute can complicate things and may expose you to legal risk.
Disclose any conflicts of interest. If you have a personal or business connection to a vendor (friend, family, received a discount), you must say so.
A word on defamation: Defamation is illegal in Italy. A review that contains false statements of fact, is exaggerated, or is written maliciously to damage a business could be defamatory. If a vendor believes they’ve been defamed, they may take legal action against you. Make sure you can evidence everything you write.
If your post doesn’t follow these rules, we may ask you to edit it or provide evidence, and we may remove it if you don’t. Repeated breaches could result in you being banned from the community. See the Community Guidelines for full details.
HOW WE ASSESS COMPLAINTS
We categorise complaints, whether they have been made to us or posted in our member communities, in three categories:
Minor – slow replies, small misunderstandings. We’ll notify the vendor and give them a chance to respond.
Moderate – proper service failures, or repeated complaints about the same vendor. We’ll investigate and may add a warning to their file.
Serious – no-shows, allegations of fraud, major contract breaches. We’ll investigate immediately and may suspend their Directory membership while we do.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
- We acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours.
- If it’s a public post, we’ll comment saying it’s under investigation and turn off comments.
- We notify the vendor by email within 24 hours and invite them to respond.
- We ask both sides for evidence (you and the vendor have 7 days to supply this).
- We review everything. For Supplier members, we assess whether they’ve met the professional standards in the Supplier Terms & Conditions.
- We tell both parties our decision within 3 working days of finishing. Investigations usually take up to 14 working days.
POSSIBLE OUTCOMES
For Vendor members:
– Complaint not substantiated: complaint closed, and (if posted publicly) post removed
– Minor issue: noted on file, warning given
– Bigger issue: membership suspended until resolved
– Serious breach: removed from Directory, no refund (see Clause 13 of the Supplier Terms & Conditions)
For non-members: our role ends after we’ve notified them. We keep a note on file which we’ll consider if they ever apply to join the Directory.
We’ll tell both parties whether the complaint was upheld, partially upheld, or not upheld, with a summary of why. Specific outcomes about Directory membership stay confidential.
PART B: COMPLAINTS ABOUT POSTS IN OUR COMMUNITY
This section applies if you’re a vendor or venue and you’ve seen something posted about your business in our Facebook group or one of our membership forums that you believe is unfair, inaccurate, or breaches our Community Guidelines.
How to report a post
Email hello@lalista.com with:
– A link to the post (or a screenshot if you can’t link to it)
– Why you believe it’s inaccurate or unfair
– Any evidence that supports your position
You can also use the ‘Report’ function on Facebook for posts in our Facebook group.
WHAT WE’LL LOOK AT
We’ll review the post against our Community Guidelines. In particular:
– Is the poster sticking to facts they can back up?
– Is it fair and balanced?
– Does it avoid personal attacks?
– Could it be defamatory (false statements that damage your reputation)?
– Does it comply with the other rules in the Community Guidelines?
We won’t remove a post simply because you disagree with someone’s opinion. Opinions like “I was disappointed” or “I wouldn’t recommend them” are allowed, even if they’re unflattering. What’s not allowed is false statements of fact, exaggeration, or content designed to damage your business maliciously.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
- We acknowledge your report within 24 hours.
- We review the post against the Community Guidelines. We may hide the post while we investigate.
- If we think there might be an issue, we’ll contact the poster and ask them to provide evidence for their claims or to edit the post. They’ve got 7 days to provide this.
- If they provide evidence and the post complies with the Guidelines, it stays up.
- If they don’t respond, can’t back up their claims, or won’t edit the post, we may remove it.
- We’ll let you know the outcome.
POSSIBLE OUTCOMES
– Post stays up (complies with Guidelines, or is opinion not fact)
– Poster asked to edit (remove inaccurate parts)
– Post removed (breaches Guidelines or poster does not provide evidence)
– Poster warned or banned from community (serious or repeated breaches)
For paid community members, repeated breaches of the Community Guidelines may also result in their membership being revoked.
You can respond instead
If a post is critical but doesn’t breach the Guidelines, you’re welcome to post a response underneath rather than asking us to remove it. This can actually work in your favour – couples often appreciate seeing how vendors handle criticism. Just keep it professional and accurate.
APPEALS
If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal once, but only if:
– You have new evidence that wasn’t available before, or
– We made a genuine mistake in how we handled the complaint
You’ve got 14 days from our decision to appeal. Email hello@lalista.com with ‘APPEAL’ in the subject line. We’ll respond within 14 working days. Decisions on appeals are final.
MISUSE OF THIS PROCESS
We watch out for:
– Made-up complaints or complaints filed just to cause trouble
– Threatening vendors with bad reviews to get freebies or refunds
– Vendors trying to silence legitimate criticism
– Competitors trying to sabotage each other
If we think any of this is happening, we’ll dismiss the complaint and may restrict the person from our communities.
RECORD KEEPING
We keep complaint records for 2 years, then delete them. Notes about vendors stay on file longer as we use them when assessing Directory applications. For more on how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Notice.
LIMITATIONS AND LIABILITY
OUR ROLE AND DECISIONS
La Lista is not a court, regulator, or arbitrator. We provide a complaints process as a service to our community, but our decisions are made at our sole discretion and are not legal rulings. We do not determine legal liability, fault, or entitlement to compensation.
By using this complaints process, you acknowledge that you are not entitled to any particular outcome, and that our decision to uphold, partially uphold, or dismiss a complaint (or to remove, edit, or leave up a post) is final, subject only to the appeals process above.
NO VERIFICATION OF CLAIMS
We are not able to independently verify the accuracy or completeness of information provided by complainants, venues, vendors, or anyone else involved in a complaint. We make decisions based on the information and evidence provided to us, acting in good faith and using our reasonable judgement. We do not guarantee that our decisions are correct, and we accept no responsibility for any inaccuracies in information provided to us by any party.
EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY
To the fullest extent permitted by law, La Lista shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from or in connection with:
– any decision we make under this protocol, including decisions to uphold or dismiss complaints, to remove or leave up posts, or to suspend or terminate memberships;
– any delay in handling a complaint or any failure to meet the timeframes set out in this protocol;
– any action we take (or decline to take) in response to a complaint;
– the content of any complaint, review, or post made by any user of our communities;
– any reliance you place on the outcome of a complaint;
– any dispute between a complainant and a vendor or venue, regardless of whether we have been involved.
This exclusion applies to direct loss, indirect loss, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of business, loss of goodwill, reputational damage, and any other loss or damage of any kind, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITY
You are responsible for the content of any complaint you make or any post you publish. If your complaint or post is false, misleading, defamatory, or otherwise unlawful, you (not La Lista) will be legally responsible. If a third party brings a claim against La Lista because of something you posted or a complaint you made, you agree to indemnify us for any costs, damages, or losses we incur, including legal fees.
Nothing in this protocol limits liability for:
– death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
– fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
– any other liability which cannot be excluded or limited by law.
DETAILED TERMS
This section should be read alongside the liability and indemnity provisions in the Community Guidelines (Clause 11), Supplier Directory Terms & Conditions (Clauses 17-18), and Club Membership Terms & Conditions (Clause 13), which also apply to your use of this complaints process. In the event of any conflict, the relevant membership terms will take precedence.
A NOTE ON CONDUCT
Please be civil with our team. If anyone is rude or abusive to La Lista staff, we’ll end the conversation.

OWNERSHIP & REVIEW
Lucy White is responsible for this policy. We review it every 12 months, and sooner if the law or our business model changes. The current version is published on lalista.com with the date it was last updated.
This policy sits alongside our Terms of Use, Vendor Membership Terms and Privacy Policy. It does not replace them.
At Wiskow & White Ltd, we permit the informed, responsible and ethical use of reputable AI applications by our employees and contractors in carrying out identified business activities. The terms of this policy must be complied with when using GenAI by any team member.
This policy is reviewed annually and may be amended at any time.
Who does this policy apply to?
This policy covers all employees, officers, consultants, contractors, volunteers, interns, casual workers and agency workers (collectively referred to in this policy as workforce).
TERMINOLOGY
GenAI. This refers to a type of artificial intelligence which can be used to create new content (for example, text, code, images, videos or music) (referred to as the output). The AI uses machine learning algorithms to analyse large data sets.
GPT. This is short for “generative pre-trained transformer”, which is a type of LLM that uses deep learning to produce natural language texts based on information requested in the input. ChatGPT is an example of a GPT model which can be used to generate text.
Hallucination. LLMs can produce outputs which may initially appear to be believable but are in fact highly inaccurate or fabricated. This is known as a hallucination.
Large language models (LLMs). LLMs are a type of GenAI that can generate human-like text in response to a prompt. They use deep learning techniques and massive data volumes to generate a response.
Prompts. These are the inputs or queries that a user provides to the GenAI application to receive the required output. Prompts can be used by the GenAI application to further train the LLM.
AUTHORISED APPLICATION USE
We allow access to any reputable GenAI tool for business purposes (referred to as authorised AI applications).
Authorised AI applications must only be used by the workforce for the following business purposes:
(a) creating initial drafts of emails, letters and other correspondence;
(b) creating initial drafts of blog posts, social media content and marketing copy;
(c) proofreading and editing documents;
(d) summarising documents, reports and meeting notes;
(e) creating outlines, agendas and checklists;
(f) researching suppliers, venues, vendors, tools and market trends;
(g) generating and testing ideas;
(h) formatting and structuring documents;
(i) creating first drafts of guides and templates;
(j) translating or simplifying text; and
(k) developing widgets for website customer journey’s
MISUSE
AI will never be used for:
(a) providing legal, financial or contractual advice to clients or the business;
(b) making final decisions on client matters without human judgment; or
(c) creating final client-facing content without human review and approval.
GUIDELINES FOR USE
(a) Inputting data. Confidential, sensitive, or proprietary data is not entered into the application as a prompt.
(b) Data protection. Personal data and sensitive personal data is not entered into the application as a prompt in breach of the Data Protection Legislation.
(c) Intellectual property rights and licensing. We abide by any relevant licensing conditions regarding intellectual property rights in the AI application’s terms of use and ensure that third party proprietary data or material is not entered into the application as a prompt without the third party’s permission.
(d) Discriminatory language. We will never input offensive, discriminatory or inappropriate content as a prompt.
(e) Be secure. We apply the same security measures we apply to all our IT applications. This includes using strong passwords, updating applications as required and not installing software onto our systems without authorisation from Lucy White.
(f) Review outputs and understand limitations. GenAI technology is in its infancy and its predictive nature means that it has the potential to produce inaccurate outputs or hallucinations. It does not truly understand the context and it cannot apply judgment to its outputs. There is also a risk that the output is biased, inappropriate or otherwise offensive. This means that critical thought must be applied to all outputs of authorised AI applications; they must always be fact and sense checked before being relied upon for business purposes and reviewed to ensure content is appropriate. You should also consider whether the tool used has real time internet access or only has access to information up to a particular point in time as this may impact on the accuracy of the output.
(g) Ethical and responsible use. Always use authorised AI applications ethically and responsibly. You must not generate content to impersonate, bully, or harass another person, or to generate explicit or offensive content.
(h) Third-party add-ons. Be aware that third parties may build a service on top of GenAI applications. Avoid inputting any information or data into these add-ons. If in doubt about how add-ons may be operating in relation to an authorised AI application you are using, speak with Lucy White;
(i) Accountability. You remain fully responsible and accountable for any work you produce or submit, regardless of whether AI was used in its creation;
(j) Transparency. If we or a client asks whether AI was used in any work or content, you must answer honestly and fully.
8.2 We recognise that some members of the workforce may access authorised AI applications via an application programming interface rather than a web browser. Where appropriate, we may issue specific guidelines to workforce members gaining access via application programming interfaces.
To ensure compliant use of authorised AI applications and enhance usage by the workforce, we track and document any use of authorised AI applications for business purposes.
Breach of policy is reported immediate to Lucy White.
