The 14th-century Veneto castle built for modern weddings
In partnership with Castello Bevilacqua
Between Verona and Venice, in the quiet town of Bevilacqua, you’ll find Castello Bevilacqua, a 14th‑century fortress turned romantic wedding venue, complete with charming cloisters, grand halls and one of the largest hanging gardens in Europe. Just 40 minutes from Verona airport, it’s a Veneto castle that combines the beauty of both worlds: old-world cinematic drama and modern ease.
The Castle
Castello Bevilacqua dates back to the 1300s and still carries that sense of history in its architecture and beautifully designed interiors. The castle has been carefully restored to welcome weddings, with a layout that allows you to use different spaces across the day and evening.
The highlight is its hanging gardens, which are among the largest in Europe and wrap around the castle, creating a dramatic outdoor setting for ceremonies, receptions and portraits. Inside, the Renaissance rooms bring a more formal, atmospheric backdrop, with space to host larger guest lists in cooler months or as a refined plan B.
The overall feel is romantic and timeless; a castle that leans into its history while being fully set up for modern celebrations.
The Flow
The space has been designed to flex around different celebration styles and guest numbers. Atmospheric setups for intimate celebrations, and for larger guest lists, the full garden, first floor and roof garden open up so every part of the castle plays a role. If you’re planning a religious ceremony, there’s even a church, Parrocchia di Sant’Antonio Abate, just 200 metres from the castle.
Accessibility is thoughtfully considered too, with internal private parking close to the entrance, a lift serving every floor and a dedicated junior suite for guests with reduced mobility, so everyone can enjoy the castle comfortably.
Max Guests: 300 (160 seated indoors)
Accommodation: Sleeps 20-25 guests across 9 junior suites (further stays nearby)
Wet Weather: Renaissance rooms and lower‑garden marquee options
Ceremony: Civil and symbolic ceremonies on site; church nearby
Airport: Verona ~ 40 mins / Venice ~ 1 hr 20 mins / Milan ~ 1 hr 30 mins
LL Loves: The combination of castle drama, generous in‑house services and the capacity to host everything in one place without losing the romance.
Famiglia-Run Hospitality
One of Castello Bevilacqua’s biggest strengths is how much is handled in‑house by a family team with over 25 years’ experience in weddings and events. The internal kitchen has been led by the same chef since 2004, so menus are well‑honed and service is seamless.
A wedding planning and coordination service is built in too. A dedicated family member supports you from first visit to wedding day, offering continuity and care. You can choose from their trusted suppliers or bring in vendors you already love, keeping planning straightforward while still personalising the moments that matter most to you.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels like stepping into a medieval love story, but with all the ease of modern planning, Castello Bevilacqua is the Veneto castle that brings everything and everyone together.
