How much will decor cost at your Italian wedding?

Décor budgets really do add up and quite commonly shock couples who have massively under-budgeted for this element in planning. If you find yourselves in this position, you’ll either face having to add more to your budget at the latter end of planning or, not seeing your vision brought to life, which can be really disappointing.

Décor changes the space and atmosphere of your location and your entire wedding. It brings personality and your unique touch to the day. It’s important to consider this when allocating your budget and not just see it as an ‘add-on’. We consider décor as any design element which makes up your wedding day: stationery, props like fans or parasols, flowers, lighting, furniture and mis en place, not forgetting the dancefloor. Now let’s find out how to do decor right!

Allocate the right budget

It is very easy to spend 10,000 euro on décor these days, so work out what percentage of your total budget you have to spend on this area.

Choose the right team

If you’re looking for a full aesthetic experience where everything is considered and literally transforms the atmosphere of your wedding, bringing your personality into it, you need a stylist. Not all planners are stylists and you’ll know from their work and their process (which you should ask in depth about) as to what skills and experience they have.

When picking florists and lighting vendors, match aesthetic and skill to any minimum spend requests. Get an understanding of their value and flexibility.

Keep it simple and prioritise

To maximise your styling to your budget, allocate the right decor in the right places. Trust us, it will make the biggest difference. Spend time here really considering the priorities, how much things will be seen, the real visual impact they have, how meaningful they are to you. This is where a stylist really comes in to their own.

Don't be a sucker for tat!

There is so much wedding tat out there and most of it is cheap and useless. Don’t succumb! Go back to your priorities and do just a few things but do them really, really well.

Couples get that niggling temptation to add more towards the end of their planning, which is where this tat tends to creep in - resist and be confident with your initial decisions.

Remember to factor in transport fees for lighting, florist and possibly others.

Stationery costs depend on quality, paper and style.
