Candice + Chris’ Effortlessly Elegant Wedding in Puglia

Photography: Saša Adamovic

Candice and Chris grew up streets apart in Melbourne and married in Italy, the country their families left generations ago. With roots in Sicily and L'Aquila, Italy was never really a question, and Puglia, with its white stone masserias and especially cinematic late summer light, sealed it. Their guests, rumour has it, are still talking about the unexpected street band.

Photographer Saša Adamovic was there to capture it all, in a region he'd never shot before and was completely captivated by.

Love Story

“We grew up in the same area, our schools also being close by so we knew the same people. We got engaged in 2023, two years prior to our wedding, in Cappadocia, Turkey.”

Why Italy

“We both have Italian heritage, my family being from Sicily and Chris’ family is from LA'quila. And who wouldn't want to get married in Italy! We also went to Italy after we got engaged and with so many beautiful areas in Italy, it made sense for us!”

The Venue

“It was important to us to find a venue large enough to have if not all, most of out guests stay with us so we needed a venue that was able to sleep 70+ people! We decided on Masseria Potenti, which was on La Lista, as the venue seemed gorgeous and could accommodate most of our guests.”

The Style

“I wanted a classic style wedding, simple, timeless and elegant.

We wanted something that wouldn't date so we went traditional, and also didn't want to take away from the venue by over decorating so we kept it minimal to make the venue shine! The traditional Apulian lights are a must! ”

Special Touches

“We did Limoncello shots during the ceremony before they announced us husband and wife, all the guests got one which we thought would be a fun way to get everyone involved and to start the celebrations!”

Stand Out Moment

“The day couldn't have been more perfect, we both had such a amazing time its hard to pinpoint one moment, however, I would need to say the ceremony as that was meaningful to us. But the Zagor street band and the fireworks were incredible! Our guests made many comments (still today) about the street band and how amazing they were, along with the fireworks. No one expected them and I think made our wedding stand out amongst other weddings our friends and family have been to.”

The Budget

“Our wedding definitely exceeded our budget.  I stopped counting in the end but if I were to guess, it would have been circa $150K AUD .”

Best Money Spent

“The street band, the fireworks, the DJ. Everyone LOVED the saxophonist too. The entertainment was without a doubt the best money spent.”

Advice for Couples

“Planning a wedding form the other side of the world is hard. La Lista really did make our wedding possible. Without this tool, I don't know how I would have done it. There will be highs, and there will certainly be lows so roll with it, it will be the best day of your life!”
