Debbie + Kevin’s panoramic wedding in The Dolomites

Are you ready to feel speechless?

Debbie and Kevin’s micro wedding in the Dolomites may have been small in guest number but delivered on absolute wow factor with the panorama. With a backdrop nothing short of breathtaking and the couple soaking in each and every magical moment, we can’t help being swept up in this celestial elopement.

Making the decision to go small wasn’t a hard choice for Kevin and Debbie, as they always knew big weddings weren’t for them, but having close family experience this with them really elevated their day. After an engagement up a mountain, it seemed fitting to hike up another to pledge their vows to each other - and what a mountain they chose!

The Dating

“Kevin and I first met in high school in grade 10 at the front of the school. We were close friends for about ten years before we had started dating after university.”

The Engagement

“Our engagement happened in Patagonia, Chile, South America. We were completing the O-Trek Trail,a nine-day multi-day hike, and on the last day of the hike, Kevin proposed to me at the famous Torres Del Paine peaks, known for its three peaks, similar to Dolomites’ Tre Cime di Lavaredo.”

Why Italy?

“We had always dreamt of an elopement and we had always wanted to get married in the mountains. The Dolomites, Italy was perfect for that. Also, the Tre Cime di Lavaredo’s famous three peaks are quite symbolic to our engagement location.”

Why a micro wedding?

“Initially, we were planning for an elopement because we’ve never liked grand weddings - it wasn’t our style and never suited us. However, we wanted our parents and siblings to be there to witness our special day. We’re glad to have had included them because it’s so much more fun and enjoyable with close family! It also made our lives easier because everyone wanted to help out!”

Standout moment

“Our best moments were simple. It was the fact we were just having fun, laughing, taking pictures, and living in the moment. The bonus part was being surrounded by beautiful and surreal views. Doing our Vows Exchange and Ring Exchange by the lake was very memorable to us.”

“One of the biggest wins on the wedding day was having great weather. Although we had picked a good season to go to the Dolomites, whenever you’re in the mountains, the weather climates aren’t certain. On our wedding day, there was just enough sunlight and shaded clouds, which made the lighting not too harsh, and it was just perfect. In the end, the biggest win was having family around to see and celebrate our marriage.”

The Biggest Challenge?

“The biggest challenge when planning our wedding was trying to coordinate everything from a different country. We had to plan the approximate dates and times for each location. It was difficult to visualize certain things without being able to see it in person. As well, we had to account for our family; luckily everyone was flexible.”
