Why Sardinia should be on your radar

Sardinian wedding outdoors at Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu with destination wedding photographer Irina Eller

Sardinia offers an exclusive destination wedding for couples wanting the glam Amalfi vibe combined with the softer more authentic experience of Tuscany. Where clear, azure waters meet winning gastronomy, warm welcoming from the locals and an unforgettable wedding experience for you and your guests.

We caught up with Sardinian experts and La Lista trusted members, wedding planner Alessandra of Med InStyle and photographer Irina Eller, to tell us why this island will capture your heart.

Why Sardinia?

Weather. A Mediterranean climate ensures pleasant weather for much of the year, with warm summers and mild winters. The perfect wedding season is from May to October.

Travel. The island is easy to reach from every part of the Europe thanks to direct flights.

Food. No wedding in Sardinia would be complete without indulging in the island's renowned culinary delights. From fresh seafood caught daily along the coast to locally sourced cheeses, cured meats, and aromatic wines, Sardinia offers a gastronomic experience like no other.

Venues. In addition to its natural beauty, rich history, and delicious cuisine, Sardinia also boasts a wide range of luxury accommodation and venues, from elegant seaside resorts to charming countryside villas, providing couples with ample options for hosting their dream wedding.

Alessandra’s dream wedding

A white welcome party on a boat sailing the spectacular Arcipelago della Maddalena or Tavolara.

The ceremony with a sea view, whether in a small country church or on the white sandy beach. With the reception in an exclusive venue with breathtaking views.

Or start with a rustic, chic rehearsal dinner in San Pantaleo village (I am mad about San Pantaleo). Rent the entire old village square and enjoy the most authentic dinner ever!

Tips for planning a wedding in Sardinia

  • Rely on a wedding planner who knows the area well and the limitations/possibilities it offers.

  • Be patient (Sardi are not very fast in replying - they have their own Mediterranean rhythm).

  • Very traditional people, with a deep respect and love for their territory; keep this in mind.

  • Stay for no less than 5/7 days to enjoy other areas of Sardinia.

Venue: Hotel Capo d’Orso

Don’t leave without visiting…

Caffe Nina in San Pantaleo for coffee and croissants.

The beaches of Nord-Est Sardinia - Grande Pevero, Cala Sabina and Liscia Ruja.

An evening aperitif Italian style! For wine lovers nothing better than wine tasting in Cantine Surrau. Or if Aperol is your thing, Terrazze Ritual is for you!

Dinner with a stunning sunset view in SOMU or Lucina.

Irina’s fav venues

1. Grand Hotel Poltu Quatu

Situated near Porto Cervo, this venue offer the stunning view on the harbor of Poltu Quatu and high quality service. Suitable for big events and small intimate micro weddings.

2. Borgo Smeraldo

Like a small Tuscany in Sardinia. This luxurious hotel is located near the famous Costa Smeralda, but still remains an oasis of tranquility, consisting of various villas with private swimming pools and gardens. Great for both micro weddings and big events.

3. Hotel Capo d’Orso

This 5-star hotel in Palau can be perfect for your wedding weekend. Situated by the sea with private beach and restaurants. My favorite is “Gli Olivastri” under the olive trees with a spectacular sea view.

Alessandra’s fav venues:

  1. La Scogliera

  2. Ristorante La Corona

  3. Ritual Club, ideal for big events

  4. Petra Segreta (amazing boutique hotel in lovely San Pantaleo) combo with Giagoni in Piazza (rustic and chic)

  5. Cascioni Eco Resort in Arzachena

  6. Villa Del Golfo Lifestyle Resort in Canniggione

Top luxury properties;

  1. Hotel Cala Di Volpe (ideal for big luxury events)

  2. Hotel Pitrizza and Romazzino (they also own stunning villas)

Best beach bars for sunset aperitifs

  • JBeach - authentic, excellent service, exquisite food and cocktails

  • Phibeach - the aperitivo here is a must

  • Boutique del Mar (Canniggione) - for a beach day, “recovery party” with excellent sea food

  • Nikki Beach Costa Smeralda - probably the most glam on the Coast

  • Fino Beach Golfo degli Aranci (Cala Sassari) – beautiful venue, with many options to meet all tastes and needs
