Following a year where many of us have been cooped up inside (wearing the same old pair of leggings), our predicted colour trends for 2021 are bringing us all a bit of hope, optimism and a good old dose of nature!

The colour trends this year really reflect the bigger changes and trends happening within the industry. Thanks to a certain global situation, we’re expecting to see the trend for smaller weddings continue as well as more outdoor and nature-based celebrations (for more on this, check out the La Lista Trend Edit 2021). Couples have had time to reflect on what’s important and because of this, we will see more couples saying ‘NO’ to outdated traditions and really doing things their way. Whether that’s choosing a jumpsuit over a bridal gown or embracing a bold and beautiful colour scheme - we cannot wait to see what 2021 has in store!

Let’s take a look at which colours we will be seeing more of in our 2021 weddings.

Sunsoaked neutrals

We will be seeing lots of rich and earthy tones inspired by the Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. Sun-bleached, earthy shades that are soothing our soul and giving us some much-needed escapism.

Pantone has included colours ‘Rust’ and ‘Desert Mist’ in its Spring-Summer 2021 colour palette and we can’t wait to see more of these rich earthy tones.

Mediterranean Pastels

Inspired by the stunning city of Cinque Terre in Italy we will be seeing lots of pastel shades in 2021. Think pastel pink, peachy tones, bright lilac and pops of aqua.

Bright & Beautiful

Giving us all life and fused with the energy of the summer, we predict more couples choosing to go big or go home with bold and beautiful colour schemes. We expect to see fuchsia pink loveliness popping up in lots of weddings this year, along with a whole host of other bright and happy hues.

Jewel tones

Rich and luxurious colours based on precious and semi-precious stones will also be big this year. Think sapphire blue, ruby red, emerald green, true pink, amethyst purple and citrine yellow. Style these colours by using a mix of different textures, such as velvet with silk, to add a touch of glamour to your day. For a Spring or Summer wedding you can mix these richer tones with muted pinks and more neutral colours for a lighter look.

Retro 70’s: Mustard and Vintage Yellow

For those that love the vintage look, this trend will be bringing us lots of warm tones - think mustard yellow, burnt orange and toffee roses. The use of velvet really gives these colours that retro feel...and who doesn’t love a bit of velvet!

Modern Monochrome

There is something so timeless about black & white. Clean, simple and classic. We predict more couples choosing to keep it classy with their own take on this stylish colour combination.

Natural

More couples will be choosing to keep it natural by using greenery and materials that truly blend in with their surroundings. This trend works particularly well with an outdoor or elopement wedding, which we will be seeing a lot more of this year. Think creeping vines and cascades of foliage running right along the table and onto the floor. Luscious.
