Uyen + Fabio’s rustic-meets-refined Tuscan wedding

Sometimes the timing just isn’t right and that’s exactly what happened for Uyen, from Vietnam, and Fabio, from Italy. They met on Tinder in 2016, took a long break and found their way back to each other in 2020. Living and working in Milan, they always thought their wedding would be in Uyen’s hometown in Vietnam… which, technically, it was. But one wedding wasn’t enough. After a trip to Tuscany, they fell head over heels for the region and knew it was the perfect spot for their main celebration. And here’s the kicker: when they started looking for venues, the one they instantly loved—LL-vetted Locanda in Tuscany—was already on Uyen’s Pinterest board before planning even began. Manifested or what.

The Engagement

“It was very funny, as Fabio attempted to propose a few times without success, because every time he mentioned going anywhere, I’m immediately in planning mode and book the whole itinerary in a blink. So, to surprise me, he asked me randomly on a Saturday morning if I wanted to go to Nice to eat Vietnamese food. After some thinking I said yes and immediately looked for a hotel to stay in and restaurants to book, which he managed to stop me from doing. He took me to Mougins, a cute little town in the south of France, and proposed just as I stepped out of the bathroom at Le Mas Candille hotel (maybe he was worried I would start trying to organise things again).”

Why Italy?

“We originally thought we would have our wedding in Vietnam (which we did end up having as a second wedding). However, that summer, when we were travelling around Tuscany, we fell deeply in love with the region — and it’s also where Fabio comes from.”

The Venue

“Funnily enough, I had a wedding photo saved on my Pinterest of Locanda in Tuscany’s dinner under the stars for ages without ever knowing the venue. When we started looking and I came across it, I recognised the place immediately. We knew it was meant to be — not only breathtaking, but the one.”

La Lista Love

“I sourced many of our vendors from the La Lista Directory and used The Community for any wedding questions, including last-minute advice on handling the summer heat on the big day!”

Style Inspiration

“We wanted the wedding to feel like us as a couple. I love fashion (I wore five dresses and five pairs of shoes across the weekend), and we’re quite “polished” in our everyday lives. But at heart, we’re both pretty rustic. We love simple things and don’t gravitate toward anything that feels overly pretentious. With that in mind, we planned the day with contrasting details: a ceremony in an iconic location — Vitaleta, a tiny chapel set in endless golden fields — with more formal attire like a tux and lace dress. Then a reception in the middle of the field, but styled with blue-and-white chinaware, deep red and pink flowers, chandeliers, and thoughtful touches throughout.”

Stand Out Moment

“The photography session between aperitivo and dinner. I changed into my second dress and we took photos in front of our reception table just as the light was dimming. It was just me and my newlywed husband, and it suddenly hit me — this is real, we’re married, and this is the best day of our lives.”

Advice For Couples

“Don’t sweat the small stuff — you won’t even notice it on the day. I’m a type-A bride and had sleepless nights leading up to the wedding, but honestly, I didn’t even look at some of the tiny details that had kept me awake.”

Best Money Spent

“The fireworks at the cake cutting were meant to be a small detail—just 2% of our overall budget—but they ended up having a huge impact. Our guests are still talking about it!”
